Cathy Slater

Cathy Slater: MAM (Arch) AIA

Director / Owner

The team of highly qualified professionals is lead by award winning architect Cathy Slater, Director and Principal of Slater Architects. Cathy is a registered Architect, has a Masters degree in applied Management (Architecture), Diploma in Architectural Drafting, Building Foreman and Clerk of Works Diploma. Cathy has won many awards for her designs from the Australian Institute of Architects, Urban Development Industry Association and Houzz.

Starting out in 1975 working for Sydney Architects Cathy then opened her own business in 1980. Over a long-spanning career Cathy has chaired meetings for the local AIA Chapter, been closely involved in the Chamber of Commerce, been a member of the Building Industry Liaison committee and volunteered many hours to the design and construct of the Terrigal Rugby Club house to which she is Patron.

When not designing beautiful buildings Cathy is a keen artist with a passion for portrait painting, several of which have been entered into the Archibald Prize with paintings of Daryl Eastlake and other personalities

Bill Slater

Bill Slater

Office Manager / Owner

Co- Director and responsible for the administrative operations of the firm Bill has been part of the business since 1986.

Previously Bill was manager of a newspaper and also spent some years as a farmer in Central-East NSW. Bill is a well-known local figure and if you don’t catch him at Terrigal Rugby club you might see him out sailing on beautiful Brisbane Waters.

Dave Buehler-Craig

David Buehler-Craig: B.Dsg (Arch)  M Arch (Hons)

Dave joined the Slater team upon completion of a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) Degree in 2006. In 2009 he went on to complete his Masters of Architecture degree, graduating with Honours. After some extensive world travel Dave relocated to Sydney and worked in a top tier firm working on a range of projects, including a High-Rise residential / commercial project located in Sydney CBD. After moving back to the Central Coast Dave reunited with the Slater team and continues his work on high-end Residential and Commercial projects and enjoys managing the day to day operations of the firm.

Lyndell Gemell

Lyndell Gemell: B.Sc (Arch)  B. Arch

Lyndell has enjoyed being a part of Slater Architects since graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Architecture and later in 2005 with a Bachelor of Architecture. During her university years, Lyndell also worked on many single / multi-residential and industrial projects whilst at another leading firm.

Lyndell brings years of practical experience and a creative mind to the team and every new project and is the in-house Interiors go-to person. Her enthusiasm for architecture and particular interest in detailed design is evident in many of our projects interior and exteriors.

Joel Fitzgerald

Joel Fitzgerald: B.Dsg (Arch),  M Arch (Hons), Dip. Arch Tech

Upon graduating his diploma in Architectural Technology in 2004 Joel began his career with a North-Sydney based architectural firm, working on various residential, commercial and industrial projects. After graduating from The University of Newcastle in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in Architecture, he travelled the world to experience different cultures & architecture. Joel later joined the Slater Architects team where he works on a range of single and multi-residential projects and is the in-house I.T guru and CAD manager.

Nigel Williams

Nigel Williams: B.EnvSc, Cert IV Arch Tech, Cert IV Graphic Design

Possessing tertiary qualifications in architectural technology and graphic design Nigel has over 15 years’ experience in the architectural industry, commencing his career as a draftsperson in 2001.  Nigel also recently completed a degree in environmental science. His current role is focused on the documentation and design of residential developments using the latest 3D CAD software. Nigel also has an interest in town planning and project management, and is a graduate member of the Planning Institute of Australia.

Gavin Clayton

Gavin Clayton: Dip. Arch Tech

Originally a Carpenter whom went on to become a builder Gavin later re-trained as an Architectural Draftsperson, giving him a unique and well-rounded approach to the design/documentation and construction of buildings. Gavin possess tertiary qualifications in Architectural Technology.

Gavin has also worked as a Project Manager, with companies such as Lend Lease, where he acquired a wealth of knowledge in the operations and contractual requirements of large scale projects.

Mel Cromer

Mel Cromer: Chartered Accountant

Mel is a Chartered Accountant whom possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has been with Slater Architects for 14 years. Mel manages the accounting side of the business. In her spare time Mel enjoys playing soccer and chauferring her kids around to endless sporting and social events.
