CLIFF RENOVATION

With good bones to work from, but in serious need of a cosmetic and planning upgrade, this three story 1970’s red brick home is located on a steep hill side which overlooks North Avoca and Avoca beach. The owner wanted something very contemporary and light filled so a combination of flat and skillion roofs were employed to present opportunities for clerestory windows to get access to high level light and air and also create a sense of the building soaring, almost taking flight, from the hillside on which its perched. The crispness of the external lines carry through to the interior and are balanced by a light yet warm material palette to give a sense of home and form a subtle backdrop to the framed expansive views.
