Cathy Slater: MAM (Arch) AIA
Principal Architect
The team of highly qualified professionals is lead by award winning architect Cathy Slater, Director and Principal of Slater Architects. Cathy is a registered Architect, has a Masters degree in applied Management (Architecture), Diploma in Architectural Drafting, Building Foreman and Clerk of Works Diploma. Cathy has won many awards for her designs from the Australian Institute of Architects, Urban Development Industry Association and Houzz.
Starting out in 1975 working for Sydney Architects Cathy then opened her own business in 1980. Over a long-spanning career Cathy has chaired meetings for the local AIA Chapter, been closely involved in the Chamber of Commerce, been a member of the Building Industry Liaison committee and volunteered many hours to the design and construct of the Terrigal Rugby Club house to which she is Patron.
When not designing beautiful buildings Cathy is a keen artist with a passion for portrait painting, several of which have been entered into the Archibald Prize with paintings of Daryl Eastlake and other personalities.
David Sutton B (Arch) Hons
Nominated Architect
David is a registered architect in NSW. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Architecture in 1997 and his Bachelor of Architecture with Honors in 2000 from Newcastle University.
With 20 years’ experience in both the architectural and the construction industries,
David’s expansive skills range from sketch design to construction project management. David has experience in the residential, multi-residential, mixed-use, commercial and industrial sectors, while he also obtains the skills for architectural perspectives and illustrations. Dave is involved from the concept design stage through to construction documentation.
Lyndell : B.Sc (Arch) B. Arch
Lyndell has enjoyed being a part of Slater Architects since graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science Architecture and later in 2005 with a Bachelor of Architecture. During her university years, Lyndell also worked on many single / multi-residential and industrial projects whilst at another leading firm.
Lyndell is our in-house Interiors go-to person so you would hear from Lyndell during stage 5. Her enthusiasm for architecture and particular interest in detailed design is evident in many of our projects interior and exteriors.
Gavin : Dip. Arch Tech
Originally a Carpenter whom went on to become a builder Gav later re-trained as an Architectural Draftsperson, giving him a unique and well-rounded approach to the design/documentation and construction of buildings. Gav possess tertiary qualifications in Architectural Technology.
Gav has also worked as a Project Manager, with companies such as Lend Lease, where he acquired a wealth of knowledge in the operations and contractual requirements of large scale projects.
Gav’s experience gives him a unique and well-rounded approach to the design/documentation and construction of buildings. You may hear from Gav in stage 4 and stage 6 of your project.
Erin Grigsby: B (Arch)
Erin graduated from the University of Arizona (in her hometown of Tucson, Arizona) in 2005 with a Bachelor of Architecture.
Since graduating, Erin worked for architectural firms in Chicago and London before moving to Australia in 2014 where she spent four years working for a Melbourne-based architectural firm.
Erin has worked on projects of all shapes and sizes around the world including city planning, shopping centres, high rises, hotels, universities, retail, townhouses and apartments.
Erin is involved at various times throughout the process from conducting measure ups, preparing detailed documentation and engaging with relevant consultants and local authorities.
Rachael Shipp
Brand & Marketing Manager
With 20 years of marketing and publicity experience, Rachael brings a unique style of creativity to the Slater Architects team.
Rachael has spent most of her career working for a national entertainment brand based out of Sydney and as the daughter of Cathy Slater, she brings a wealth of experience and is personally passionate about the Slater Architects brand.
Rachael is involved in the marketing and operations at Slater Architects. You may hear from Rachael at various stages from the concept to completion of your project.
