CASTLE HILL HOUSE

Situated on a battle-axe block in a suburban area, it was important the design created privacy for the owners. By designing a pavilion style, split-level home that followed the contour of the sloping site, we were able to maintain privacy while maximising the elevated bush vista. A generous open plan living area with sleek kitchen, custom wine cellar and sunken lounge with a fireplace all overlook the view and outdoor entertaining area. High ceilings and the sunken lounge area with black picture frame windows exaggerate the space and wash the area with natural light.

Elevated pavers created flush tracks for the glass sliding doors which seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces. The outdoor space designed for entertaining incorporates a fire pit and wet-edge swimming pool overlooking the view, while an additional covered west-facing balcony with fully-equipped outdoor kitchen provide a protected entertaining space and solid timber posts frame the sunset views.

Working alongside the client, who owns a joinery business (Karisma Joinery), the sleek and contemporary interiors include a butler’s pantry, theatre room and custom-designed wine cellar.
