This beachfront home aims to contemporise the notion of ‘beach house’ through a mixture of form and materials. The sleek, crisp lines of the building contrast the sweeping curves of the shoreline which forms its backdrop. The ability for the building to interact with its immediate environment was of key importance, resulting in the buildings ‘operative’ motif and large framed views. The material palette reflects the necessity for longevity, low maintenance and beauty in an unforgiving environment but ensures a softer / warmer touch with the use of stone and timber in areas where people interact with the building.
